Archer and Thorrington Homes offer a variety of Care options.
Our Archer Home offers rest home level care.
It has short-term (Respite care) and long-term permanent care.
Our rooms provide for Standard rooms and Premium rooms.
Our Premium rooms include an ensuite, and an additional daily fee is incurred for these rooms.
Standard rooms have no additional daily fee.
Our Thorrington Home offers rest home and a dementia unit (what we call our Memory Support Neighbourhood).
Respite care and long-term care options are available.
However only Standard rooms are available in this Home.
Thorrington Home also provides some Day programmes for community people. These can be provided at rest home level and dementia level.
These are arranged through your GP in liaison with Thorrington.
For those wanting some higher ‘assisted-living’ care support then we have studios that can be purchased by the Licence Arrangement (similar to buying a villa in the retirement village).
Our Assisted-living studios are attached to the main Home at Thorrington and offer that combination of independence and dependence.
A range of ‘Lifestyle’ Care Packages are available for those residing in our Studios, and these can be discussed with you on application.
We pride ourselves in providing compassionate, personalised holistic care to our residents. Many of our staff have been with us long term because of their passion for caring for our residents.
Staff are involved in regular training and many are studying for the Nationally recognised certificate in Caring for the aged.
South Island WINNER
Our Archer Home was the inaugural WINNER of the people’s Award for best Large Care Facility in the South Island in 2015, 2017 and 2018. This was voted by residents, families and volunteers through the AgedAdvisor organisation (similar to TripAdvisor). This level of care is provided across both our sites.
Archer belongs to the Industry-aligned organisations, the NZ Aged Care Association and the Retirement Villages Association.
This ensures we keep up with the best practices in services and care for our residents.
We also benchmark our care and services with other like-minded facilities throughout NZ.
Archer’s Independent Audit Programme includes: Ministry of Health – Health and Disability Certification for our Homes; our financial accounts are audited annually; we meet the Food Safety standards to restaurant level standards for our food services; and we meet the ACC Workplace Health and Safety standards to protect our residents, staff and all our guests.
