Some of Archer’s Special Qualities

Archer’s ‘Top 10’

1. Boutique and Personal
Let Archer become your ‘home for life’.
Experience our boutique lifestyle villages and homes.
We are ‘one-family located on three sites’, small and personable.

2. ‘…loving life’
Life is to be enjoyed! An extensive range of social programmes, special events, day trips and even an annual ‘family holiday’ are provided by our staff and ‘Friends of Archer’. Many of our residents coordinate and lead daily events as well.

3. Special Character
The Christian faith is one of our special Archer characteristics. We employ Chaplains who provide pastoral care, are available to talk about faith as people seek it, and oversee our devotions and services.
We acknowledge we are all at different stages of our spiritual journey and welcome and respect people for wherever they are at on this journey.

4. Flexible Care-Support Packages
Offering a lifestyle that provides a continuum of independent-living, cottages, villas, and studios; to residential care-support options.
Our care for residents include our Wellness Clinics; to short-term convalescing/respite care-support, and/or long term permanent care-support options.

5. Fixed Fees for Life
Our Village residents have fixed weekly fees for life from the day they walk into one of our lifestyle villages. No weekly fee increases ever!
We aim to be affordable for people to join Archer. We are open to discussing flexible financial packages to meet your specific needs.

6. 90-day ‘Happy’ Guarantee
We want you to be totally happy when choosing to come and live in one of our lifestyle villages. To make sure of this, we offer a 90-day ‘Happy’ Guarantee, or we will refund your money in full.

7. EDEN Alternative Registered Homes
The EDEN Alternative approach to care is internationally acclaimed, focusing on a resident-centred support model for care. We are a home not a hospital, we have residents not patients. Our residents are encouraged to contribute to the daily running of our villages and homes.

8. Locally owned
We are Christchurch based, locally owned, and have been supporting our community for 60+ years. We know and love supporting our community. We also have close relationships with local medical centres and pharmacies.

9. Surpluses Reinvested
We are a charitable organisation. As surpluses are generated, they are reinvested for our residents benefit and the facilities we offer. No dividends are paid to shareholders or overseas investors.

10. Archer Leisure Centre
Our residents and their families have access to our new Leisure Centre with its café-styled lounge, auditorium for events and movies, library, gym, and indoor heated pool and spa. Families also book this complex for special family celebrations and anniversaries as well.

Archer’s ‘LIFE’ Vision

‘living life…loving life’
Describes Archer’s vision and we describe its key elements below with the acronym ‘LIFE’

Loving life – enriching lives

Enriching our residents’ lives through engaging them in their passions and interests, and incorporating the Eden Alternative model as a framework to achieve this.

Investment – ensuring affordability

Aiming to make your lifestyle at Archer affordable and good value.

Faith – embracing faith

Offering all people involved at Archer the opportunity to explore, discuss, and consider embracing the Christian faith.

Exciting – encouraging adventures

Helping residents to relive past adventures again and experiencing new adventures today.

Faith is an important special characteristic of Archer

Archer has a strong commitment to the Christian Faith. We aim to uphold those values of unconditional love and care, but welcoming people from all walks of life.

Archer has been known for having a Christian approach to everything it does, and we encourage people to explore their own faith journey.

At Archer the Christian faith is openly expressed, and people can meet and talk with others about their faith.

Partnerships with local churches and groups are valued, and they contribute to the daily spiritual life of residents over our various sites.

Today we see ourselves as interdenominational, but retain a special relationship with the Baptist Association of Canterbury and Westland.

Our Kingdom Ministry Programme

This Special Character is also evidenced by our commitment to supporting Christian missions, projects and individuals, through our Kingdom Ministry Programme. Over the past years we have supported over 90 missions with funds totalling more than $350,000.

The annual Golden Oldies Mission to Fiji has been a special project that residents and staff have been committed to over past years. We have established partnerships with remote villages, schools, hospitals, aged-care homes, orphanages and churches. People from all over NZ now join us on these mission trips, and everyone returns home inspired and challenged. Check it out at:
