Celebrating a chaplain’s dedicated service

Celebrating a retiring chaplain's dedicated service

Archer recently celebrated the retirement of one of our Chaplains – Peter.

Peter has been working for Archer for seven years and has been kept busy with visiting residents both at the villages and hospital, organising services, putting together a song book, preparing Christmas and Easter readings and lots of other jobs behind the scenes.

Thank you Peter for all your hard work and we wish you a happy retirement.

Wedding bells!

Wedding bells for lovely couple

Our Sales Manager Sue finally enjoyed her Covid delayed wedding to Charlie this month.

You can see by the smiles that it was a wonderful day and Sue looked absolutely gorgeous – Charlie scrubbed up pretty well too.

They are currently enjoying their honeymoon and we look forward to having Sue back next week and wish them both well for their future together.

Adventure in Otago

Otago Rail Trail cycle adventure

We asked Anne (who works in the Archer office) to share about her recent trip to Otago.

‘Eight of us cycled the Otago Rail Trail on electric bikes covering 160km in 3 ½ days.

It was a wonderful way to explore the region and take in the sights.

I particularly enjoyed cycling over the numerous bridges, enjoying the sounds of water running below and birds singing.

There were lots of historic places along the way to stop, relax, enjoy refreshments and meet fellow cyclists.

A time of reflection was had at the Hyde Railway memorial which is the site of New Zealand’s worst rail disaster.

We had chilly mornings but beautiful sunny days. I hope you enjoy looking at some of my photos’.

Waikuku Beach BBQ

Archer Tours Waikuku Beach BBQ Day Trip

One lovely warm February day, Archer Tours took a trip out to the beach settlement of Waikuku, enjoying the ambiance of an original 1930’s bach and listening to Charlie sharing stories of the history of the bach and some of the shenanigans that went on there.

Following a good old kiwi BBQ and salad lunch, residents spent a few hours relaxing under the shade of the trees while some braved the hot sand and enjoyed a paddle and even a swim in the ocean – something some of them hadn’t done for years.

There was also a wee celebration for Sue (our Sales Manager) and Charlie as they look forward to their upcoming wedding.
